Avis offers a variety of GM cars with features you need for safety and comfort: stereo cassette, driver and passenger-side airbags and available anti-lock brakes to name a few.
Rates valid through Dec 31, 2006. All vehicles have automatic transmission with air conditioning. Rates include FREE unlimited mileage. Rates are based on 24-hour rentals, 59 minutes grace period before overtime is charged. No fee to add spouse (or significant other with same drivers license address) as 2nd driver. Other drivers are $25 extra. All drivers must be at least 25 years of age, with a major credit card (not a debit card). No exceptions. Rates are subject to the applicable 12.5% Hawaii General Excise tax, the Vehicle Licensing fee, the applicable Airport Concession Recovery Fee and the Hawaii Highway Revenue surcharge, currently $3 per day. Add Mandatory Hawaii Fees to all rates. All rates are subject to change without notice.

Age Requirements
At participating locations, Avis recently lowered the rental minimum age to 21 years old in all states except:
Locations in the states of Connecticut, Washington DC, Iowa and Idaho, and select locations in New Jersey.
Rather than requiring customers to be 25 to rent, Avis now rents to customers between the ages of 21-24 with a valid credit card and driver's license. At time of rental, we will automatically apply an additional $25-per-day underage surcharge for these drivers.
New York State will continue to have a minimum age of 18 with a $110 surcharge per day for renters age 18-24.
Additionally, the following restrictions also will apply for renters between the ages of 21-24: Renters of luxury, Mini-Vans, 12-Passenger Vans, Specialty, and Full-Size SUVs, Premium SUVs will not be permitted.
For International rentals, maximum and minimum age policies may apply and vary by country.
Credit and Debit Card Policies
Avis accepts most major credit cards as credit identification at the time of rental. American Express, AT&T Capital, Avis, BP MultiCard, Diner's Club International, Diner's Club (US issued with MasterCard logo), Discover, GE Capital, JCB, MasterCard, PHH, Sears, Visa. Some locations may not accept each of the referenced charge cards.
Most locations also accept bank debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo as credit identification at the time of rental if you are at least 25 years of age.
If you're using a debit card to check out a vehicle at a location that accepts them, you must show a second form of identification. You are subject to additional credit checks, OR the instructions described below will be required.
Renting at an Airport location:
A round trip airline ticket, e-ticket, or travel itinerary to or from the airport of rental, disclosing a return date and showing the renter’s name
A valid U.S. passport or current U.S. military identification card. The name must match the name on the renter’s U.S. issued driver’s license
A current vehicle insurance card or a recent pay stub. The name and address must match the name and address on the renter’s driver license;
OR a current copy (within the last 60 Days) of your cellular phone bill, home telephone bill, bank statement or utility bill which shows your name and current address. Your name and address must match the U.S. issued driver’s license in order to provide the renting location with proof of an accurate address.
Renting at an Off-Airport location:
A current copy (within the last 60 days) of your cellular phone bill, home telephone bill, bank statement or utility bill which shows your name and current address. Your name and address must match your U.S issued driver’s license in order to provide the renting location with proof of an accurate address
OR a valid U.S. passport or current U.S. military identification card. Your name must match the name on your U.S. issued driver's license.
Please note that some locations do not accept Debit cards. Currently, debit cards are not acceptable as credit identification at the time of rental at locations in the Metropolitan NY Tri-State area, Hartford, CT, Philadelphia area, Mississippi or Louisiana locations as well as other locations across the country.
Debit Card Policies
Avis reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to seek a Debit Card authorization hold in excess of the estimated rental charges. When using a debit card at Avis there may be a minimum hold of $500 and a maximum hold of the estimated rental charges will be placed on your account.
Upon returning the vehicle, Avis will process a release of the unused portion of the hold subject to your Bank's procedures. The hold may take up to 2 weeks to be released by your bank.
If you fail to return the vehicle as agreed, Avis will obtain additional authorizations from your account to cover the rental charges.
Avis is not responsible for any returned checks or over-drafts based on this policy.
Positive identification in addition to your driver's license may be required.
In the United States, Debit, Cash or Check cards can be used at the end for payment of rental charges. For acceptable credit identification and payment methods in countries outside of the United States, please consult the Renter's Guide and search for the specific location.
Note: Prepaid Debit/Gift cards are not acceptable methods of credit identification to pick up a car at any location. One of the above mentioned cards must be presented. Prepaid Debit/Gift cards are accepted at time of return only.
Optional Coverage’s
Optional Coverages may not be reflected in subtotal for certain international bookings.
Optional coverages and one way fees are subject to tax in certain locations. This tax is not reflected in the estimated total.
In Australia, GST, Stamp Duty and Concession Recovery fees apply to optional coverages, one-way fees and any other miscellaneous charges. These taxes and charges are not reflected in this quote. For rentals in Australia, please make arrangements for optional coverages at the counter at the time of rental. Please note: Selection of any of the above coverages will result in the coverage and applicable GST, Stamp Duty and Concession Recovery Fee being added to your rental, and not shown in the total of this reservation quote. Concession Recovery Fee is charged at most Major Airport locations only.
For rentals in Europe:
CDW - this covers you for damage to the Avis vehicle subject to an excess.
TP - this covers you for theft of the vehicle or its parts to an excess.
If you required additional insurance, cover can be purchased locally to reduce/remove the insurance excess. Just ask at the Avis rental desk when you collect your car.
Estimated Totals
Approximate total includes base rate, taxes, and surcharges. Items such as coupon discounts, child safety seats and gas are NOT included in the estimated total. Optional coverages and one-way fees are subject to tax in certain locations. This tax is not reflected in the Estimated Total.
Estimated total is subject to change based upon exchange rates at the time of rental.
DMV Checks
At the time of rental, the renter or authorized driver may be subject to an electronic DMV check from the issuing state of the driver's license, or may be asked to sign a declaration attesting to specific criteria:
The renter/authorized driver has a valid license that is not currently suspended, expired, revoked, canceled or surrendered.
The renter/authorized driver has not, within the last 36 months had 1 or more convictions for reckless driving.
The renter/authorized driver has not, within the last 48 months had 1 or more convictions for driving under the influence (DUI), driving while intoxicated (DWI), or driving while alcohol impaired (DWAI).
The renter/authorized driver has not, within the last 36 months failed to report or leave the scene of an accident.
The renter/authorized driver has never been in possession of a stolen vehicle or used a vehicle in a crime.
The renter/authorized driver has not, within the last 24 months had 3 or more convictions for moving violations (including seat belt violations).
The renter/authorized driver has not, within the last 36 months had 3 or more accidents
ENTERPRISE
Special negotiated Enterprise Hawaii rates apply.
Maui, Big Island (Hilo, Kona), Honolulu Airport (shuttle), Waikiki, Honolulu Dock/Port. Enterprise Car Rentals are not yet available on: Kauai, Lanai and Molokai.
Rates may not be used in conjunction with any other discounts. Weekly rates are up to 7 days. Specialty vehicles may need to be guaranteed with a major credit card at time of booking. Rates do not include taxes, governmental or airport fees, or optional charges such as refueling service charges. Collision Damage Waiver, Personal Accident Insurance/Personal Effects Coverage, Supplemental Liability Insurance or any other optional items or services are also not included in rates. All renters must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license and credit card in their possession when they plan to pick up the rental vehicle.

Renter’s Qualifications:
Must have a valid driver’s license in their own name as required by law
Must have a credit card in their own name with at least $250.00 available credit, or $100 over the full amount of the rental
Must be at least 21 years of age. (There is no under 25 years of age surcharge; and drivers under 25 can only drive compact car up to full size vehicles)
Rates/ Overtime & Other Charges:
All rentals are based on 24 hours = 1 rental day period
After that time, overtime charges will be assessed per hour late, not to exceed the daily rate of rental. This rate varies by car class and is noted on the rental contract.

Drop charge for all locations on Oahu is $30 at another branch. No car is to be stranded – has to be taken back to a branch.
